Machines honoured in awards

29 Mar 2017 -

As judging wraps up for the 2017 International Forklift of the Year (IFOY) awards, a number of machines have been honoured in various accolades around the world.

New Bremen-based Crown Equipment Corporation is boasting that its latest awards boost its trophy tally to more than 100 since 1965.

Crown WAV60

The company reached the design excellence milestone with recent recognition from a couple of organisations. The Crown SC 6000 Series counterbalance forklift and Crown PTH Work Assist System have both earned GOOD DESIGN Awards from The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies. The competition’s jury honoured the vehicles for high-quality design in the industrial category. This recognition marks the 15th GOOD DESIGN Award for Crown.

Meanwhile, the Crown WAV 60 Series has won an award from the iF International Forum Design in the Automobiles/Vehicles category.

Yale MPB045VG
Yale Materials Handling Corporation also picked up a 2016 GOOD DESIGN award for the MPB045VG walkie pallet truck with lithium-ion battery.

The walkie pallet truck offers the first commercially available lithium-ion battery pack in the forklift industry recognised by Underwriters Laboratories (UL). The lithium-ion powered walkie was selected based on its extended run times, fast and convenient charging capabilities, exceptional manoeuvrability and reduced environmental impact.

Jungheinrich picked up an iF Design Award for its EKX 516 high rack stacker.

Jungheinrich ECE 225

In addition to newly developed drive technologies, which make for a quantum leap in energy efficiency (level IE3), the truck features RFID technology for simple system integration.

This year’s win follows the selection of the Jungheinrich ECE 225 horizontal order picker in last year’s iF Design Awards.
